Construction of the second track of the railway line Divača – Koper

Investment value: € 1 billion

Our role: Investigation management, responsible engineering geologist, responsible designers of studies

Year of the design of technical documentation: 2009-present

The route of the new railway line passes through two geologically distinct areas, which also corresponds to the planned division into two parts - Lot 1 (an area of mainly carbonate rocks) and Lot 2 (an area of flysch rocks). The approximately 27 km long route will run along excavations and embankments, 8 tunnels, 2 viaducts and 2 bridges with an intermediate gallery.

As part of the investigations that served as the basis for the preparation of the GG studies, in the phases of building permit, additional investigations for building permit and detailed design, more than 172 boreholes with lengths of up to 350 m, hydrogeological, geophysical and other investigations were carried out, resulting in extensive analyses and providing the basis for further design work.
